Carr Family

Warren & Vicky Carr attended Times Square Church from 1994 to 2007, where Warren served in the music ministry from 1996 to 2005. They have been volunteering in Zambia for 3 years with their 4 children at the Kakabalika Children's Foundation.

Warren and Vicky are doing their best steer the Carr ship in the direction the Lord is leading their hearts.  Warren ministers the  farm and at church.  At the farm, he helps with the education department and in other areas where needed.

At church, with the help of the Praise Team, he leads worship for each of the services.  Vicky, is very busy with the home as well as homeschooling the children.  She also leads a once a month Show-and-Tell group with other homeschoolers and it is fun and a blessing for them all.  She helps at the farm as time allows.  Her priority right now is the home and children.

Gem has been so enjoying her love for music.  She says she has an itch for music!  She’s been even trying to come up with piano chords to the worship songs she knows.  Her drumming skills have improved quite a bit as she’s been allowed to play for some of the worship services at church.
She has also been excelling in her schoolwork and it’s been amazing to see.  To end the year, she completely memorized and recited the Gettysburg Address for the group of home schooled children that meet with her once each month.

Amber has improved in her studies so much I’m amazed at her.  She most enjoys being maternal towards her younger siblings, although it’s not very welcomed at times!  She is free spirited and everyday we see becoming and developing her gift of a worshiper.  She’s been the first one to sing in public at church by her own choosing.  She had asked for it for a month until Warren finally gave in this past summer.

Salome may seem quiet but is the very much opposite, well, at least when her thumb is not in her mouth.  She really loves her schoolwork; if she had her way, she would try to finish her worksheets all in one session!  We have been reading a book on Leonardo DaVinci and so she decided she wants to be an ARTIST when she’s big!  She may very well be, because her favorite pastime aside from playing with baby dolls is coloring.

Simeon is a true bag of testosterone.  He has a most lovely
disposition when he wakes up, as he’s the only one who wakes up smiling and giggling…when he’s fully rested that is!  He loves to help around the house.  He spends about ten minutes in school at a time and the rest of the time…outside slashing grass, plucking weeds, chasing and walking the dogs, looking for insect.  He’s also very much like his oldest sister in that he LOVES to DRUM!  I think one drummer in most families is one too many but God saw it fit to BLESS our family with two!

Buster and Brown (The Dogs):
We have two German Sheperd-mixed dogs which have been a true blessing to our family to have.  Unfortunately it is no so for the Zambians around the neighborhood, they are petrified of these “lions” as they call them.  Brown is the Alpha dog.  He is a “cool” dog, he’s the boss and knows it and so does not need to proof it.  Buster, on the other hand, is a two year-old on speed.  He is loud, hyper and very naughty!  The houses in Zambia have a wall fence and a gate around their the property.  Well, Buster can jump up to the top of the 8-foot tall wall so he can see outside the yard!
This week I noticed that not only can he jump to the top but has the balancing talent of holding on to the top of the fence for a few seconds so he can turn his head and have full view of the surroundings!!  It’s quite amazing to watch!
The dogs have such a reputation in the neighborhood that everytime the gate opens, people scatter everywhere to avoid contact with them.  The other day, a friend came to visit and saw two men literally hanging on a nearby mango tree!!  They jumped down as she was leaving when the gate closed!!
